Add additional types (serials and presentations)
Two formats that are especially needed are:
A. Serial publications: these are neither books or journals but series such as memoirs or special publications. In addition to authors and paper titles these have series titles, individual volume titles, and typically volume-specific editors. All this information is required for proper referencing. No existing format makes this combination easily available.
B. Presentations. Increasingly, important contributions are appearing as PDFs of presentations presented at conferences, seminars or institutional meetings and then posted on the web, but not formally published (in the sense there is no print copy made available). One typically only has authors, title, conference or meeting name, organisation, date, and URL.
