Make Mendeley compatible with Scrivener
It would be great if Mendeley worked with Scrivener for writing large bodies of work, like books, dissertations etc. I'm about to start a Ph.D. and thinking I will have to stop using Mendeley and export all my references to a referencing system that is compatible.

Create an "Enhance PDF" option like ReadCube has. I love Mendeley, but that feature is so cool!!!
This would pull up a list of citations in the article currently being read on the side (so the reader wouldn't have to scroll down mid-read to find them) and give the reader the option to download these directly.

remove the "option+M" shortcut for the MS Word for OSX plugin.
It interferes with system-wide shortcut for scientific symbol "µ".

Creat a way to import existing bibliography into mendeley
If users already have an existing bibliography, a Mendeley function that imports the bibliography to Mendeley would be extremely useful. It is difficult to start using Mendeley midway through a project, if an extensive hand-typed bibliography already exists. If Mendeley could populate a citation list on its programme based on an existing bibliography (doc file), that would be really helpful!

Better citation editing for Word
The options are limited at the moment. While allowing to suppress the author in v1.6 went a little way to help, you should also be able to do the same with the year and leave only the authors name this time. The ability to hide parenthesis would help with writing, while still allowing you have enough control over the citation.

multiple citations under a single reference
multiple citations under a single reference i.e. [1a-c] instead of [1-3]; that style is massively used e.g. in the journals of Organic Chemistry whose articles adopt grouped citations for papers concerning the same topic.
something like:
"as discussed in [1]"
or
"as discussed in [1a-c]"where [1] appears as
[1] a) first cit.; b) second cit; c) third cit; ... e) fifth cit.

Bibtex export and journal abbreviations
The issue of journal abbreviations is treated in detail in many posts, but none of them seems to address it in conjunction with exporting to a bibtex file (or, better, to the synchronised bibtex files).
I followed the steps found elsewhere to get the journal abbreviations to be shown in Mendeley if the Citations view is used (http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/124632-how-to-enable-journal-abbreviations-), and this works together with a hacked version of a bibtex style (http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/243441-customize-journal-abbreviations-and-bibtex-export-style).In this way, the citations can be successfully 'copied' to an ASCII file, with the correct bibtex syntax and journal abbreviations. However, if they are…

Allow replacement of PDF files without removing the existing notes
How about allowing re-uploading of the pdf file attached to the same document, while *keeping* the notes of them. This is very necessary for instance when the content of the pdf is slightly changed.
(Even though big changes have happened, I can still move the notes around the document, so why not keep them around?)

JSTOR
Mendeley cannot recognize pdfs downloaded from JSTOR, which is a principal database of articles in economics. In particular, Mendeley always takes the year of downloading to be the publication year of the paper.
JSTOR contains papers in the most renowned journals in Economics. If Mendeley can recognize pdfs from JSTOR, more economists will found Mendeley attractive.

In the current build of Mendeley Desktop, the selected line of a document gets highlighted in dark blue color, that completely obscures the underlying text. Could you make the highlighted color a little bit more transparent?

Toggle title caps format
Titles are sometimes retrieved in all caps, title caps, not caps, sentence caps, etc. It would be great to either have a way to toggle all titles caps or to have titles default to title caps.

Add Mendeley Support to Google Docs
Recently, Google added a Research tool to Google Docs. Since writing a research paper is inherently a collaborative task, it would be useful if Mendeley offered a similar feature through Google Drive open API https://developers.google.com/drive/. It should support the Citation Style Repository, searching PubMed, and Mendeley groups, and allow you to view the metadata associated with the references.

Upgrade to 1.82 breaks on Linux due to compatibility
It required libQTWebKit and the libgdbm headers, but did not check to see if they were installed. I had to debug this by hand (run on commandline, determine why it failed), then install the correct packages to get it to get it running again. You should really check first to make sure that library requirements for the new version are installed before pushing the upgrade out to individual users. Running Mendely in window-only mode (not on the command line) fails without giving any error.
4 votesWe are aware of problems running Mendeley on some Red Hat-based systems in Mendeley Desktop 1.8.2. Until the problem is properly fixed, if Mendeley fails to start, install the QtWebKit and QtSvg packages and try again.

Link institutional privileges to Mendeley account.
Now that you know which institutions have subscriptions to which (Elsevier) journals, how about letting users who have their institutional emails registered with Mendeley (..@auniversity.edu) get direct access to those journals from within mendeley.
Bypassing the need to log on to each journal individually via an institution home page.3 votes -
Remove case sensitivity for journal name look-up in journal abbreviations 'default.txt'
Many citations are downloaded with non-standard capitalisation conventions.
i.e. Annual Reviews in Phytopathology vs Annual reviews in phytopathology
If you define a Journal Abbreviations default.txt ( as per http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/questions/179297-how-to-enable-journal-abbreviations-?new=179297 ) Mendeley is unable to correctly locate abbreviations for alternate capitalisation forms of the journal title.
Could fix by removing case sensitivity. Unlikely that two journals exist with the same title in different capitalisation forms. i.e. nature vs Nature.
