Alf Eaton has created a Javascript tool to add citations to a Google Docs document, see http://hublog.hubmed.org/archives/001946.html. It includes some Mendeley integration. A little clunky, but a great starting point if anyone wants to tackle this problem.

This really would help on collaborative papers. Have they looked into it? Is there a work-around to make it work?

Noticed there haven't been any comments on this thread in a while. Does anyone know if Mendeley is working on this?

An integration with Google Docs would definetely be the killer and boost Mendeley`s popularity as an increasing number of schools and universities are switching to Google Apps.

Handling RTFs offline is not a substitute for live, collaborative Google Docs integration.

Supporters of this idea might want to consider voting on the RTF scan idea. That would be a generic solution for google docs and also other writing tools so may be more appealing to Mendeley

I've created a GitHub repository here (http://github.com/gawbul/gdocs-chrome-mendeley) for anyone that wants to help with development. I've started with the basic extension and will do as much as I can, but have my PhD workload to consider too.

WizFolio already has this function but it just works with the old Google Docs format... I work a lot with Google Docs and It'll be nice if Mendeley can handle my references.

Compatability with Zoho would be great since Google Docs is good but there are formatting issues...

Here is where Mendeley can really make a difference!! First bibliographic tool with a smooth integration with Google Docs, kind of the actual integration with MSWord or OOO!! If done, I am sure Google will start featuring Mendeley and promoting online collaborations using G.Docs/Mendeley.

Would require work from Google docs side. Currently only possible to insert references by using bibtex tag fields or similar and running Endnote or similar on the document to automatically process the references.

I'm using Zotero to do that at the moment but it is not ideal and I would far prefer using Mendeley if the functionality existed.

Google docs would be amazing. Integration with google wave in the future may make Mendeley an indispensable research tool for writing and collaboration.

yep.. this feature would be highly useful for collaborative writing and would eliminate the need for emailing libraries and word documents back and forth!!! I'm surprised more people haven't voted for this feature!!!

Is this even possible. It will be a godsend if it is. Imagine how much easier it will make writing multi-author manuscripts, which is the norm nowadays.
Victor are you looking into this? -

Maybe there's a solution that can equally be applied to Zoho Writer and Adobe Buzzword, i.e. rather browser-based than via an API?
