I am withdrawing my votes from this ticket and putting them in "Zotero 2 way sync". Functionality to allow Mendeley to siphon off Zotero users with single-direction "sync" is not the kind of compatibility or partnership that I had in mind.

Hello - Please file a separate new ticket for any Zotero import problems. Please keep to a single ticket per problem as that makes it easier for us to prioritize working on things.

It is absolutely pivotal for me to select only a subgroup of zotero items to be imported. Furthermore the import of zotero-notes doesnt work too well (graphics are not included, standalone notes dumped) and my pdfs from zotero are not scanned by mendeley for their references.
Is there a new ticket for some sort of "enhanced" zotero import or could you reopen this ticket? -

Can we "incomplete" this ticket? The implemented import feature is rudimentary to the level of non-usability. NEED to be implemented: collection structure (including saved search) import - I need only items specifically tagged for academical use to be imported into Mendeley

It would be nice also if we could have an explicit refresh button for the zotero-mendeley sync, so the user can make the sync happen manually, in case the automatic update is not instantaneous.

Sometimes the attachments make it, sometimes they don't.

Are the notes supposed to sync as well? That did not work in my case when I added notes on a web-archive (sticky and text-marking). I also had rather sporadic success with imports (sometimes it works, sometimes it only creates an a collection with no content). Rather buggy at this point for me (using the Zotero 2 beta).

Hello - The Zotero integration is supposed to support 1.x and 2.x versions. If it fails to work please contact support@mendeley.com - if you could attach your Zotero database file (the path to which can be found via the 'Zotero' tab in the Preferences dialog) that would be very helpful.

I had the same experience as ifunglu. Turned Zotero integration on (I'm using Zotero 2.0b7.2 and Mendeley 0.9.4) and Mendeley crashed. Restarted and I can switch integration on, but nothing happens. I can see some Zotero folders as collections, but no Zotero documents appear in Mendeley.

Does the Zotero integration support Zotero 1.x or 2.x? I'm running the older stable version, and when I turned on Zotero integration, Mendeley just hangs.

Just to clarify - the 'completed' status for this ticket refers to the ability to import documents from Zotero automatically into Mendeley as suggested by various users. I suggest that new UserVoice pages are created for other issues (eg. two-way syncing).

Looking forward to the Zotero integration I just wondered when the next release is due.

Ben and Bruce: Thanks for your comments. We've reached out to the Zotero team with a proposal of how to achieve a two-way sync.

Just wanted to reiterate. I'm happy to see progress in this area, but my feature request is for two-way sync.

One-way sync isn't exactly compatibility, or partnership ;-)
Perhaps a Zotero-compatible API that enables two-way sync?

How much should I wait until I can move my Zotero library to Mendeley? The bibtex transition path does not work correctly even for metadata (all bibtex's "special characters" are displayed). I have hundreds articles with annotated pdfs attached...

I also stand for a partnership, as both interfaces approaches are good and useful. Indeed there are occasions (usually the harvesting phase) I prefer a browser plugin and others I'd rather use an all-in-one program. But so far none alone has convinced me completely and my library is less tidy and useful than I wished it to be...

I also strongly support the movement towards open source software and hope to see a type of partnership between Zotero and Mendeley. Zotero is a great reference manager and has a loyal following precisely because it is open source.

Ideally this would take the form of an open API that Endnote, RefWorks, or any other package could support if they so chose.

I'd like to see as tight integration as possible. Including automatic synchronization of one's collections, sharing/networking across services. If a colleague is using Zotero, I want to be able to collaborate with them easily. No walled gardens.
