Add typical PDF view and navigation options
Mendeley should have typical view and navigation features of regular PDF viewers, like:
1) view - zoom - fit to page
- fit width
- fit height
- fit visible
2) navigation:
- go to page number (I can't believe Mendeley can't jump to page numbers, I have scroll through the whole document! Or am I missing something?)
- go to next / previous / first / last page option as buttons in Mendeley's toolbar
- scroll down the page by hitting space bar.
In other words: Mendeley's PDF browser should have all view/navigation features of Adobe Reader.

I'd like to see a "full page" an "two pages" option, and an easy "full screen" option.

Under Linux I love the Mendeley annotate functions. But as a pdf reader is horrible. Just adding the side-pane with a list of chapters would be a huge upgrade!

Another tool which would be greatly appreciated would be the snapshot tool, allowing to copy images for example.

i second pruefsumme's suggestion that this thread should include a request to be able to view in two page continuous mode.

And please also include easy scrolling by keeping the middle mouse wheel pressed.

+1. Make it a complete pdf reader with good navigation. Left/right cursors should be also utilized, support thumbnails for easy jumping, and provide jump back and forward (CMD [ and CMD ] on Mac Preview).

Just another 3 votes for better scrolling. Left and right arrow keys should do full pages, page up and page down (or space bar) should just scroll by whatever amount is currently displayed on the screen. As lots of people have said - just like Adobe or Foxit. Thanks Mendeley!

I repeat what others requested: side thumbnails/outline. Great product However!

I'm experiencing the same thing as sjkim, and agree that a "zoom to fit (width)" button would be nice. I used to do it by closing the document and reopening, but obviously with the new mods that doesn't work anymore. Thanks!

I upgraded to v1.0, and it seems that there is no way to recover "zoom to fit" property once you zoom in/out a document. As soon as you press a button of zoom in/out, you loose the property of "automatically resize (zoom to fit)". Also it would be great if we can have a short-cut for zoom in/outs

I would like there to be a button to on/off toggle the visibility of highlights and annotations - I created a specific request for this here:

+1 for go back (previous view) button. See comment by andreas (9 back) for why it is especially important when reading academic papers.

Hi Gabriel,
It will be something that we'll do on an ongoing basis. This release (the 1.0 dev preview) addresses a number of requests for the PDF viewer and we'll do more in future releases.
If there are some specific things that you are after (as opposed to the general bag of 'typical PDF view and navigation options'), please let us know.

Agree with other comments. Really important to improve pdf viewer. Not really practical to view documents in internal viewer at the moment. Great product otherwise.

Ditto what everyone else has said. Plus:
1) Side thumbnails.
2) The document resizes to full-size every time I switch windows! -

The page up/down (or space/shift+space) issue is key! Currently I'm reading PDFs in Preview because this feature is missing in Mendeley.

I think improving the PDF reading experience is really important if Mendeley is to become a serious research tool. Nowadays I find I go to Mendeley to find a PDF, rather than searching in the file store (combination of recency, authors and title will usually find a document faster). However reading is a pain by comparison with Adobe Reader. Just simple things like the space bar to move forward would help a lot.

how about "page up" and "page down" does not jump to the next document, but instead scrolls, like in Acrobat.
thank you, I love the product!

A "go back" feature would be really great. When reading a pdf and clicking on a citation link you get to the end of the paper. To go back to where you stopped reading you need to scroll back all the way at the moment (or know the page number where you were and press ctrl+g)
