make the annotations searchable!
I am using the 0.9.4.1. I found the annotations were unsearchable. It would be very nice if we can search the annotations we made.

The PDF annotations and the Mendeley annotations should be a single view. In other words, the PDF annotations should be imported into the Mendeley annotations pane, not just viewable on the PDF view.

I agree that this would help tremendously

I agree that this is a make-or-break feature. I was trying Mendeley out, to decide if I want to invest the time required to build a library for future use. The absence of this feature and the fact that it has been "planned" for so long, just made the decision easy - no Mendeley for me.

Also, annotations can be used as a coding tool (as in qualitative analysis). A searchable annotation where we can tag the pieces of information in articles would make organizing and going through articles very much easier. It is also more fun to read since you know you tagged the information you needed.

I really don't understand why this feature is not already available !!! You can search through "notes" (which are not really useful) but not through "annotations" ? What the f**k ! It should not be "planned" but "done" !

This is a make or break item. Mendeley is almost useless unless annotations are searchable.

This is an essential feature. Very necessary. And adds so much more to the ability of this program.

Should be quite easy to add this feature.
Mendeley even stores the annotation separetely in order to better synchronize them. -

I agree with all the other postings. This should be very high priority! The highlights and annotations are the cornerstone of research. If we can't organize our own ideas about the material we've read, this platform is not very helpful. Often, I have to read a large number of sources, which speak on a number of topics, but only one that I'm interested in. I need to be able to organize the information from all these sources under one "tag." If I could tag my annotations, or even just search for key words within them, and get a nice list of the results along with a reference to the material they are attached to, that would be tremendous!!

This is both marked as "Planned" and is 1 year old. This should be a VERY high priority. Essential, in my opinion.

This is essential! I read hundreds of pdf articles, and I add yellow sticky notes to specific locations within the pdf file (e.g. comments about a specific text paragraph, question about a particular figure, remark about a reference listed etc.). It is of crucial importance to be able to search for words within the sticky notes. Please make it a high priority!

es, please please please allow searching just through annotations...this is essential for organizing the writing of a giant paper.
and having a way to have all annotations visible without having to click on each one first would be great, too.

I don't understand how this is not a higher priority... :)

This is essential. If you want to be able to search for a comment, you have to use the "notes" field. However, the "notes" field does not link to particular positions in a PDF file. If you want searchable notes that are linked to positions in the PDF, you have to put the same text in both the "notes" field and a PDF annotation, which is quite uncomfortable.
