Office 2010 64 bit plugin

Since Mendeley desktop is not working for the 64 bit version of Microsofts Office 2010 TP, it would be great to build a version of Mendeley Desktop compatible with the 64 bit version of Office 64 bit as soon as possible. The beta phase of Office 2010 is start very soon (November) and that would be a great opportunity to test Mendeley Desktop for this Office version as well.

Our research group just decided to witch from endnote to mendeley. Now once I have downloaded the desktop app I realize that it wont play with my 64 bit office 2010.
Can we expect a 64 bit version anytime soon or should we switch back to endnote?

Same issue, I must be running the 64 bit version because no plugin option shows on my Mendeley. I love that feature and I hope they get that fixed soon.

Um, I've had a 64bit computer for 2 years now and haven't been able to use Mendeley. I thought this would be solved by now. I know you probably think that since you're not charging anything, you can get away with it... but you'll find that very soon you'll have no users at all.

    Hello May,

That site is linking to same Mendeley Desktop installer that appears on our download page. The "64bit" description on the page is dishonest - it is just there to attract searchers from Google. The Word plugin is still 32bit I'm afraid. As a general recommendation, only download Mendeley Desktop from our downloads page.

Please make this available for 64-bit office - I just install 64 bit windows to find that I can't use my favorite ref management package. I guess I have no choice but to go to endnote again....

I am about to upgrade to Office 64 bit. If I cannot use the plugin Mendeley will be useless. Please, this has to be an option and soon. Thanks

I would like to add my voice-I can't wait much longer for a compatible version and will have to switch to another citation manager if this doesn't come out soon.

Today this request is ranked 14th, but it has average votes of 2.50.
Among the 20 first request/suggestions, only the first (the android one) has an average of votes so high.
What does it mean? That, despite not a lot of people is interested in this, the ones that voted it are not asking for it but needing it!!! It's do it or die, so please Mendeley team, fix it already! I'm sure you can do it!

It makes Mendeley useless without the plugin working with the 64 bit office since these days, most campus computers are 64 bit machine now.

    Hello Bernhard,

Mendeley Desktop does not support the 64bit version of Word 2010. If you have a 32bit version of Word 2010 you can use that. Support for 64bit Word 2010 is on the roadmap but is not available yet.

5 month later but still the same problem: I have Windows 7 and Word 2010 (64bit, full version). In Mendeley 1.0.1 no option available to install the MS-word plug-in.

Is there meanwhile a solution for this problem?

Please, please, please give us the ability to use Mendeley with 64 bit Office. I just had an issue with a group of researchers and one researcher has a 64 bit so she had to go from Mendeley to Write-n-Cite which caused a huge headache. We are all begging to have this installed and would bring so many more people aboard that are faced with the issue of campuses upgraded their software, rendering Mendeley irrelevant. We love Mendeley and want to keep using it however we need 64bit compatibility PLEASE and thank you.

I've been using Mendeley for two years now, and have no votes left to cast on this. But I've just upgraded my computer and find that I can no longer cite from Mendeley. Rendering the entire software package pointless. As others have pointed out, the software has existed for two years now. To not have solved the issue is negligent, at best.

After two hours of setting up account, installing software, reading instructions, and inputting some articles, I now find that the most important function that I need--being able to cite references from my 64 bit version MS WORD--is not working. What a disappointment! Unless this problem being fixed, I will not use Mendeley again.
