Bug fix: search within pdfs doesn't work properly, and should "search while type" ineffective
The search through the whole library works fine and picks out words from pdfs. However, when you then open a pdf and search on the word, not all pdfs work - i don't understand why. Also, can the search while you type be changed so that you can type word and then hit enter - as it keeps freezing because it is very slow to search.

Allow citations to be associated with chapters or sections of research projects and papers
One of your competitors has a very neat feature, where you can set out sections for your research project then drag-and-drop literature into those sections.
At the moment you guys have folders, but from a citation it's impossible to tell which folder it has been assigned to (if any). This slows down doing quick, initial literature scans, because it's hard to tell if one has already looked at a paper and assigned it to a section of a project, or if the paper is new.
At the beginning of a project I'll start with a literature search with potentially several…

improve annotations
Annotations should be something else than mere notes, for instance take a look to xournal or okular to see how this could be improved.

Add a 'jump to letter scroll bar' when sorting by author. Something similar to when you view your contacts on an iPhone.
I have a suggested to add to the functionality of the Mendeley desktop tool. I know that in searching/organizing my library I already have a lot of options: I can type in a search term (e.g. Author's name), I can "filter by author", or I can click on the "authors" bar and put my library in alphabetic order by author's last name. What I think would be a really cool feature is that in addition to putting in order to add a 'jump to letter scroll bar'. I am envisioning something similar to what you get when you look at…

public categories of publications confusing
The public view (and the statistics) display the category of the owner/creator for the publication and not the field the publication belongs to. eg. if I upload a medical paper, but I am actually registered as computer scientist, the paper will belong to computer science, which makes no sense to me.

Fix creation of "No Title" documents with no attached file
I'm new to Mendeley, I had it import all files in a directory with around 2000 pdf's. It imported these, but also created about 2000 documents that were "No Title" with no attached file -- just completely empty documents. I had to move these to the trash by hand, which was a pain.

Include images when snapshotting html pages
Snapshotting an html page that includes images to show graphs, charts, photos, etc. omits the images which makes the resulting article much harder to follow.

Add support for PACS
It would be very nice if Mendeley could identify PACS numbers: http://www.aip.org/pacs/.
It could be integrated in the keywords, and be interactive, so as to show what it refers to when the mouse goes over it.1 vote -
Allow user to specify location of the index folder
Running Mendeley on several machines, all watching a folder stored on the cloud (Dropbox, etc.) results in duplicates being set up. If the program's own index folder is stored on the cloud as well, rather than %Appdata%, then each machine can point to that instead, so the index file is synced across all systems.
