I agree.

Acutally, I think anything less than what was covered by other software _long_ ago is, for me, a step down in functionality.

Most of these should really be covered by Mendeley:

We have released a Mac Word 2008 plugin in conjunction with 0.9.6.1.

At the moment there are a small number of known issues such as it not working on non-English installs of Word. That said, to better track what we need to work on next, if you can file each different type of isseue in a seperate ticket, this would be great.
